I love his interpretation of the role, which I think is much richer than Branagh's - you can see the technique in what Branagh does and it is impressive, but you can lose yourself in Tennant's. I don't recall anything about the music or composition of the images in the RSC one at all.īut if you were asking me which I'd rather watch again, I'd say Tennant in a heartbeat. With Branagh's I like the score and some of the cinematography and there's also great pleasure to be had in seeing so many good actors working so well together. And unlike the Tennant version it is a fully realised movie, whereas the RSC one is more of a filmed realisation of a stage production.
Love the ambition of Branagh's film, and there are some great performances in there - Jacobi, Kate Winslet, and so on.
